Tai Chi for Fitness & Well-Being — Beginners & Intermediate
Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling Exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements which promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students to cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow which will enhance their immune systems, and to reduce physical and mental stress. The instructor Master Wong Wai Yi (Tony) a 20th Generation direct lineage of Chen Family Taijiquan.

"I would highly recommend Tai Chi for everyone, regardless of age or physical condition.  The class is taught in a very friendly and relaxed manner.  We begin the classes with the silk reeling exercises, which warm up and relax all the major joints in the body.  Next we move on to practicing the movements of the Tai Chi form, which resembles a beautiful martial dance; complete concentration is required, and the intellectual as well as physical stimulation is very satisfying.  The class ends with a standing meditation which leaves me floating on air as I depart.  The instructor and his assistants  are very kind and patient, always soliciting questions, and imparting their vast knowledge on the subject.  Tai Chi is something that one can take home and practice every day, enhancing physical health and mental acuity.  In today’s world of stress and tension, Tai Chi is the perfect antidote to bring a sense of peace and tranquility."

Paul Sacomano (2016 continuing student of Beginning Tai Chi Class)
