Peninsula Parks & Trails†
Join instructor and guide Tom Taber for a fun and informative course that combines in-class lectures with weekend field trips. Learn about flora, fauna, geology, and history as you discover the Peninsula's interesting scenic parks and trails. Each excursion will involve walking 4.5-6.5 miles in mountainous terrain. We will stop frequently to examine natural and historical features and to sample tasty treats made from native edible plants. Enjoy spectacular views and redwoods at Purisima Creek Open Space; old-growth redwoods and a beautiful creek at Pescadero Creek County Park; and sand dunes, elephant seals, and other marine life at Ano Nuevo State Reserve.
†This tour requires moderate physical activity. You should be able to climb rugged terrains and walk long distances. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Layered clothing is recommended. No pets on walking tours.
