Business & Data Analytics Certificate
The Business & Data Analytics Certificate is a 4-course, not-for-college-credit program designed to prepare students for entry-level business analyst and data analyst jobs, which have grown 20% annually over the last 5 years and pay over $50,000 per year] (nationally average). Data analytics is a particularly attractive career starting or career switching program because the skills learned are highly valued in nearly every industry and increasingly utilized in a range of job functions outside of data-specific positions.
The program was built in partnership with Silicon Valley Bank and Tableau and informed by business analyst, data analyst, and data science professionals and backward designed from job task analyses to ensure students learn the skills required by employers, through real-world projects and use cases.
This not-for-credit program is aimed at career enhancers or career changers and professionals interested in data careers, such as business and data analyst roles, and those needing basic skills to become a better data recipient or to start progressing towards a data-related role inside of an organization.
In this not-for-credit certificate program, students learn to integrate foundational analytics and statistics concepts with practical technical skills, including business analytics principles, statistics, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and SQL. Students graduate knowing essential analytics skills and tools used for acquiring, cleaning, storing, sorting, visualizing, analyzing, and presenting data.

Statistics for Analytics I
All courses are designed as online, asynchronous classes, with virtual instructor-led discussion sessions, hands-on activities, and cumulative project-based learning opportunities.
Upon successful completion of the program, learners receive a Certificate from Tableau and CCCE of the San Mateo County Community College District, providing a compelling skill signal to maximize their employability. Individual courses and the certificate will not appear on a college transcript. Graduates will also learn the role and value of business analytics, how it impacts business insights and decision-making, and how to manipulate and visualize data through key applications. Applicants should have math knowledge equivalent to High School Algebra II, and be proficient in English (reading, speaking and writing).
This program is offered in partnership between the Cañada College Workforce Division, CCCE, Pathstream, Silicon Valley Bank, and Tableau. All courses within the certificate, and the certificate itself, are offered not-for-credit. No college credit will be assigned to any part, and neither individual courses nor the certificate will appear on a college transcript.
