Landscape & Night Photography Bootcamp

From the Panoramic Highway 1, to the scenic drive across Golden Gate Bridge, in the Bay Area there are thousands of amazing photographic spots. “The question is not what you look at, but what you see” Henri David Thoreau. The art of seeing is an active process of observing the world around us with deliberate thoughtfulness. In photography, it’s what you do with what you see that counts. Subject matter provides the building blocks while composition acts like the glue holding it all together, and light sets the stage for capturing a moment capable of conveying a sense of being there.

This three day landscape and night photography workshop begins with a 4-hour classroom orientation and presentation on “The Art of Landscape and Night Photography”, covering the aesthetics of photography and technical aspects of camera functions.

Day 2 will be an 8 hour day shooting in the field (the first shoot will take place at various points on Hwy1 south, while the second will convene on Hwy1 north across Golden Walking and driving distances will vary from roadside vantage points to moderate trail hikes. During the shooting day, from late afternoon to sunset, and then in the early evening to night time, instructor and fine art photographer Emanuela Quaglia, landscape photographers Gino De Grandis and Christian Peacock will work with you to capture amazing images.

On day 3,  you will work in the classroom with landscape post-processing techniques using Lightroom and Photoshop. You will also discuss your images in an open critique covering subjects from capture to post. Individual and group instruction, viewing images and critiques will help you build confidence and improve your creative and technical skills in landscape photography
